Boasting some of the most ambitious and lavish interiors created in the eighteenth century, this fascinating property has dazzled for more than 250 years. Claydon’s gardens and park surround Claydon House and are a classic example of fine English country house gardens. The current gardens were initially laid out for the 2nd Earl Verney by James Sanderson, a pupil of Capability Brown, in the Eighteenth Century although successive generations have made their mark on them.With beautiful herbaceous borders, attractive pools, a large productive and decorative walled garden, and an unusual historic glasshouse, there is masses to explore. Visit Lady Verney’s interesting Florence Nightingale Centenary Garden, and enjoy stunning views over Claydon’s parkland from Queen Victoria’s walk.
