Lucketts Group Day of Inspiration…

This week, accompanied by a couple of members from the Lucketts Group team and forty group organisers, I ‘Got on board’ one of our executive coaches and headed to the Isle of Wight on a Lucketts Group Day of Inspiration.

Being new to the team,  having only joined the Lucketts Group in January, this was my first experience on board a coach since my school days - and what a pleasant surprise.  At 6ft1 I found the vehicle to be very spacious with plenty of leg room and comfortable reclining seats, which made the journey very relaxing – removing any preconceptions that I would feel the urge to move as soon as the coach pulled away.

On board, there were all the necessities required for any long journey, including drink facilities, toilet, DVD player and air-conditioning - and having been at the steering wheel myself most of the week, I must say it was a rather enjoyable experience being able to sit back, relax and let someone else do the driving!

Our Day of Inspiration was arranged by our knowledgeable sales consultants Trevor and Maria to provide our accompanying group organisers a new, fresh and revived idea for places to visit with their groups.  Trevor and Maria, along with organising the coach travel had arranged ferry crossings, entrances, and meal stops for the day; just some of the additional extras the Lucketts Group team can provide for group organisers.   And with over 50 years’ experience within the industry between them, their knowledge had certainly paid off, having arranged a day which not only ran smoothly, but was interesting, informative and most of all, fun.

It was an early start to the day as we collected passengers from a variety of convenient pickup locations in the local area, which Trevor had carefully calculated based on the addresses and ease of access for our group. Once everyone was on board and had been introduced to our driver Mark, we began our journey to Southampton to embark the Red Funnel ferry which would take us to Cowes. The journey by ferry lasted about an hour, and afforded those on board great views across the Solent. Red Funnel had also kindly put on a fantastic spread of tea and cakes for us all to enjoy.

Arriving in Cowes, we disembarked our ferry and jumped on board our coach once again, to head off along the Island's winding roads to the most eastern point of the island, Bembridge, and Warner’s Bembridge Coast. At Warner’s we were greeted by a member of the hotel staff who gave us some background information on the hotel before ‘letting us loose’ to explore the facilities on offer. The hotel is ideally placed on the edge of Bembridge and hosts beautiful gardens and fantastic views of the Solent. A charming hotel, it’s location is also within easy reach of some of the main attractions of the Island, including the magnificent Osborne House.

Departing Warner’s at just gone half 11 we headed to our second destination of the day, Dinosaur Isle located in Sandown. I must say this is a very interesting attraction; a purpose built dinosaur museum and visitor centre, which takes visitors through the ages with its number of fossils that tell the story of the past and give clues to the effects of possible future environmental changes.

Our last stop of the day was the Isle of Wight Pearl. Here we were met by our guide for an informative talk about the process of cultivating and culturing pearls, and given an insight in to the initial stages of pearl cultivation through to the final pearl creations that we see in jewellery stores. It was a stimulating talk, and fascinating to find out about the number of different types of pearls that exist – who would’ve thought there were so many!

All in all the day was felt to be a great success, and we hope those who joined us found it to be interesting and informative, but most importantly that it gave them some great destination ideas for their next group outing as well as a little more insight in to the services the Lucketts Group can provide.
