Five European Destinations to Visit in a Day!

 

With easy access across the English Channel a day trip to Europe is closer than you think. If you only have a day to spare, here are just some of the great destinations that are definitely worth a visit.

 

 

1. Bruges, Belgium

 

A beautiful medieval city located in the North West of Belgium, Bruges has been named the 'Venice of the North' due to its attractive cobbled streets, canal network and many bridges. Bruges has one of the most spectacular Christmas Markets in Belgium, which attracts many groups from around the continent year after year. However, you will find there is also much to enjoy throughout the year - with its many museums, canal cruises, food markets and wonderful handmade lace and chocolate shops, all making Bruges a great place to visit.

 

 

2. Le Touquet, France

 

Situated in the north of France, the chic and popular resort of Le Touquet is renowned for its elegance and great atmosphere. Named as 'Paris by the Sea' Le Touquet has fantastic beaches and great shopping, along with a casino, race track and famous golf course, which makes the resort popular with visitors from all over.

 

 

3. Brussels, Belgium

 

As well as being the Belgium capital, Brussels is also the headquarters to the European Union, and offers a wealth of history and a variety of interesting attractions for visitors to explore. Groups can arrange sightseeing tours which take in the main attractions of the city including Grand Place, Manneken Pis and the Atomium whilst here. Alternatively, if you are looking to experience some Belgian delicacies, a Belgian chocolate or beer tour may be more to your liking.

 

4. Boulogne-sur-Mer, France

 

Bolougne-sur-Mer is a picturesque city filled with both architectural and historical heritage and one of the leading fishing ports in France. During a visit to Boulogne, you may wish to visit some of the key attractions, including the The Belfry - originally the keep of the castle of the Counts of Boulogne and now registered as a UNESCO world heritage site, the magnificent Basilica of Notre Dame or perhaps the Nausicaä national sea centre.

 

 

5. Ostend, Belgium

 

With its five and a half mile long golden sandy beaches and pretty harbour this cosmopolitan city situated by the sea, has so much to offer. During a visit to Ostend groups may wish to explore the many museums - such as the Atlantic War Museum and Mu.Zee museum of modern art, visit the aquarium, or perhaps do a spot of shopping in the local boutiques - many of which sell a range of speciality foods.
